As the cobwebs from the night before cleared the next day, a little Googling of the subject revealed the mountain we were planning on climbing, or walking. As we discussed the plan, “holidays”, “war wounds” and myriad other reasons emerged that meant people were unavailable.
The morning after
There were plenty of people happy to drive the team support car, shout encouragement from a Red Funnel ferry or wait in Paris with warm croissants and celebratory Kronenborg, but we fell short on athletes. Plan “B” was needed.
Plan B
Things went a little quiet. Work got in the way. Time passed. As January become March, the short season for outdoor charity events fast approaching. We needed an event.
We re-kindled the 100Km walk idea. We flirted briefly with the notion of a 100Km walk in the Sahara. We looked fleetingly at Siberian treks, but thoughts always returned to the London to Brighton walk. Who couldn’t walk 100Km in a day we asked each other?
